New Antic! Studio Job brings together two free electrons, Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel, recognised for their rebellious and non-conformist way of creating a particular universe. With Colossus, they have dusted off Antiquity by revisiting ancient statues in an ironic way. This fibreglass coffee table is like an ancient marble that has come down to us in pieces. The fibreglass imitates white marble perfectly. Displaying a timeless wisdom, this sublime fragment fascinates with its grace and mystery. Studio Job’s designers appropriate fragments of classical antiquity and communicate them with the present. They hijack the cultural heritage of antiquity with provocation and playfulness. This furniture-sculpture, on the borderline between art and design, creates a dreamlike and extravagant universe that is at once provocative, amusing and absurd. Colossus is displayed in our interiors both to decorate and to serve as a coffee table.
